Hi all, hope everyone is well and keeping happy? Thank you all for your best wishes and support and hope you are making the most of the new year.
We spent three days in Bangkok visiting magnificent temples (Wats) in a great area well away from the backpackers chaos of Khoa San Road with more experienced(older)travellers, Really good. Shanti Lodge in Thewet. Food fantasitic and cheap, if it wasn;t fopr the beer I'd way 11 stone by now. after that got sleeper train and boat to Koh Tao, beutiful island, if a little touristy//full of travellers. Been diving for four days and had first dive with Tiffany - absolutely great - saw the arse end of a grey reef shark approx 4m away, relised something important was there when the other divers beat me out of the way as though free pies were on offer. vis was 4.5m though!. Seen amazing fish, huge groupers, lots of spotted rays, scorpion fish, etc viz deeper has been a bit low, bot about 15 m depth can see for miles. I managed to organise a dive buiddy today to get away from the led trips and really relaxed into diving. staying in a hut on the beach costing about 3 GBP per night, cold water, toilet, my type of place. The beach is dreamlike, fire dancers, amazing sunsets. you knoe the rest. Everyone looks about 15 years younger than us, slimer and really good looking, it must be a trick of the light in this part of the world?
Anyway I'm having issues updating the website but will try and get pictures for you to see. Tomorrow we head for a quieter part of the island to relax for a few days then down to the South West of Thailand. Meeting sme great people.
Andy - we did meet up with Robert and his Thai friend, he was was talking about your gulley climbing with one axe - he seems very well and was really happy top hear about what you're up to . PS you owe me 7GBP fpor the beer and food I bought on your behalf.
